Because of the festival, there are lots of small groups of women in colorful kimonos and wooden slippers. We have also seen a lot of young couples, her in a bright kimono and him in a darker robe (not sure what the male version of the kimono is called).
Assuming you do not have access to Google; the male version is also called a kimono which literally means "thing to wear". Men most often wear the kimono for special or very formal occasions. Professional sumo wrestlers are often seen in the kimono because they are required to wear traditional Japanese dress whenever appearing in public.
